Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 3, 2026
Night Song ("the app", "we") is a personal Christian dream-journaling app. This policy explains what the app does with your information. Plain version: the app works fully without an account and keeps your dreams on your device; if you choose to create an account, your dreams (but never your audio recordings) are also stored on our servers so they survive losing your phone and sync across your devices.
What we collect
Without an account, the app collects no personal identifiers — no name, email, contacts, location, or advertising identifiers — and does not track you across apps or websites. The content you create (dream recordings, transcripts, chosen emotions, reflections, tags, prayer status, and favorites) is stored on your device.
If you create an account (optional; by email, and — where offered — Google or Apple), we collect and store on our servers, hosted by Supabase in the United States:
- Your email address and an account ID, to identify your account.
- Your dreams, linked to your account ID: title, transcript, chosen emotions, reflection, tags, symbols, matched verse, prayer status, favorites, and the date of the dream.
- Your app settings, such as your reminder time and language.
Your audio recordings are never uploaded to your account. They stay on your device only.
Account data is stored so your journal survives a lost phone and appears on your other devices. It is not sold, shared for advertising, or used to train AI models. Access is restricted by row-level security so only your own account can read your rows.
What leaves your device, and why
To provide its core features, the app sends the following to a secure third-party AI service (Groq) over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection:
- Your dream audio, to transcribe it into text.
- Your dream transcript and chosen emotion, to match a Bible verse, write a short reflection, and (if you use them) generate a monthly reflection.
This content is sent only when you take these actions, is used solely to generate your result and return it to your device, and is not sold, shared for advertising, or used to train AI models. Groq processes the request to produce the response; see Groq's privacy terms for their handling and retention.
If you have an account, your dreams are also synced to Supabase as described above.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, which associates your purchase with an anonymous ID (or your account ID if you're signed in) to unlock your subscription across your devices. We never see your payment details.
Where your data is stored
On-device data lives in the app's local storage. If you have iCloud Backup (iOS) or device backup (Android) enabled, your on-device app data — including dream text and saved recordings — may be included in those encrypted backups, per your device settings. We have no access to those backups. Account data is stored on Supabase's servers in the United States.
Your control over your data
- Delete a dream: Delete any single dream, or use Settings → Delete all dreams to erase every dream on this device (and, if you're signed in, from your account), including saved recordings. This cannot be undone.
- Delete your account: Settings → Delete account permanently deletes your account and all of the data listed above from our servers. This cannot be undone.
- Deleting the app removes all data stored on the device; account data is removed only by deleting your account.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be reflected in the app.
